Two years ago, when the Philadelphia Eagles won the Super Bowl, many fans thought that would be enough for every player to be happy. They soon found out that was not the case for A.J. Brown.
That resulted in a 2025 season filled with unnecessary drama and complaining from Brown, ending the complaints in a much-needed divorce. The Eagles traded Brown to the New England Patriots for a 2027 fifth-round pick and a 2028 first-round pick.
While he's not the Eagles' problem anymore, it appears the Patriots aren't learning the lesson Philly had to learn about two years ago. New England quarterback Drake Maye is about to.

Maye was speaking to the media when he was asked about keeping his receivers happy. He answered the question in the polar opposite way he should have.
"I think the best thing for that is winning."
"My job isn't to try to make everybody happy. My job is to have the offense move up and down the field and score points."
Quick history lesson for Maye: the Eagles won at least 11 games in each of the four years Brown was there. He was the most targeted receiver on the team with 521, made two Pro Bowls, was selected to three second-team All-Pro teams, went to two Super Bowls, and won one.
What was the end result of that? In 2024 during the Super Bowl run, there were reports that Brown was frustrated with a lack of targets. His relationship with Jalen Hurts took a massive hit because of it. Brown wasn't happy with it and requested a trade multiple times throughout last year.
Oh, Maye. You have so much you need to learn.
Brown has a Super Bowl already. He didn't need to win. Brown has even admitted this on social media, but he's all about individually dominating the man in front of him and putting up big stats. He may claim he wants to win, but the last two years are evidence that he's lying about that.
That isn't meant to be a knock on Brown. It's just who he is and that's okay.
Maye needs to understand, though, that the moment Brown doesn't get the ball, he will complain. Brown might make key blocks in a game without the catches, but that won't stop him from being mad that he's not the guy.
