Philadelphia Eagles fans all agree that they want the real Jake Elliott back, and the 2026 training camp is hopefully trending in that direction.
Elliott has had a rough last two seasons with the Eagles, making less than 80% of his kicks in each season. The 2025 campaign was truly a nightmare, as he made 20-of-27 field goals (74.1%), the second-lowest of his career. He had a stretch last year where he missed at least one field goal in four of five contests.
Entering training camp, Elliott has a ton of pressure on him from the Eagles fan base to perform better. The latest update should put some Eagles fans' minds at ease.

NBC Sports Philadelphia Eagles reporter Dave Zangaro shared his observations from the team's latest practice. Zangaro gave a good, short report on Elliot's performance.
"Jake Elliott was 6-for-6 on his field goals in the full-team setting and is now 25/26 in this training camp."
Elliott has shown in the past to be a great kicker for the Eagles, so it wouldn't be unusual for him to do well. He was a Pro Bowler in 2021 and was a second-team All-Pro selection in 2023. Prior to the 2024 season, he had six of seven seasons where he hit at least 83.9% of his field goals.
When asked about last year's struggles, Elliott blamed the conditions and weather.
“We played a lot of really windy games last year,” Elliott said via NBC Sports Philadelphia. “It was a tough year condition-wise and I think the more I can put myself in those situations (at practice) and try to counter that, how can I hit a better ball in the elements? I'm fortunate enough to play in the great Northeast and have to deal with stuff like that.
While it has since been shown that most of his misses were in the dome, the Eagles are willing to let him pass on that excuse as long as he keeps performing well.
He was lucky and avoided the Eagles signing another kicker or drafting one. Many thought that competition for him would have been good, but when the team restructured his contract in the offseason, it was clear he was getting at least one more year to prove himself.

With the preseason in a few days, it will be the first look at seeing how much Elliott has truly improved throughout the offseason. Anything less than a perfect day kicking against the Baltimore Ravens, and Eagles fans will be calling for his job once again.
