Nobody saw the Philadelphia Eagles bringing in a third running back onto the practice squad, but general manager Howie Roseman does what he does best and surprises everyone.
ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that the Eagles have signed running back Jaydon Blue to the practice squad. Blue was a fifth-round pick of the Dallas Cowboys last year and was just waived from the team after a little over a year on the team.
During his rookie season, Blue struggled to get on the field and raised questions about his maturity among multiple sources. He ended up playing in five games, rushing 38 times for 129 yards and one touchdown, adding one catch for five yards and three kickoff returns for 72 yards.

One thing about the Eagles is that they don't mind taking a chance on players with maturity concerns. It has worked out well for the franchise so far.
Looking at Jalen Carter. He had character issues at Georgia, but he did well with the Eagles. He's made two Pro Bowls in his first three seasons in the NFL and has now landed a massive, record-breaking contract extension.
Blue has a ton of potential, as he can run in the 4.3s, which means there's a lot of speed to him. He's also versatile and can catch out of the backfield. The Eagles could have a true weapon in him.
The Eagles were initially interested in Blue going into the 2025 NFL Draft. Philly had him in for a visit, but the Cowboys ultimately got him in the fifth round.
Blue is in a really good spot to develop into a strong-to-great professional player in a culture that only wins and succeeds. He can be around other guys who have struggled with maturity like him and learn how to be a pro without any issues.
It's also good for him to be exposed to so many good running backs on the team. On the active roster, he's got Saquon Barkley, Tank Bigsby, and Will Shipley. On the practice squad are Dameon Pierce and Carson Steele, who each have played in plenty of regular-season games.

Dallas didn't appear to have the patience with him because they have always struggled with "character-issue guys." Philly doesn't have that problem and will be able to handle Blue and turn him into the potential star he can be.
