Everyone will be talking about the Philadelphia Eagles' boneheaded decisions in their 19-17 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 5. Still, Jalen Carter's performance will be forgotten. We won't let that happen.

After a rough first few weeks of the season, the Eagles' defense played well against a very good Jaguars offense. Granted, Philly's unit allowed 408 yards and 306 passing yards and had one turnover, but they made arguably two of the game's most important moments that should have won it.

The Eagles had two defensive stops from inside the five-yard line that were turning points in the game. Despite all of that, Philly still had to take the loss, but Carter's play was a work of art to watch.

Jalen Carter dominated for the Eagles in their loss to the Jaguars

Just in the first half alone, it was so much fun to watch Carter bully the Jaguars' offensive line. He had two sack-strip fumbles on Jacksonville quarterback Trevor Lawrence, but unfortunately, they didn't result in Eagles turnovers.

Carter had another moment where he just slipped right past the Jaguars' offensive lineman and had his sights on running back Bhayshul Tuten . Jacksonville's leading rusher was just hammered to the ground by Carter right away, without being able to react properly.

To close the game, Carter had a beautiful stat line: five tackles, three tackles for loss, two sacks, two forced fumbles, and one pass deflection. NBC Sports Philly's Ryan Fowler said Carter was double-teamed 40% of the time and still put up the numbers he did. Carter became the first player since Chris Jones in 2020 to have two strip sacks in a game.

What was even more impressive about Carter was that he played 81% of the defensive snaps. That is not typical for him, but he was so good that Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio couldn't justify keeping him on the sideline for long. Carter was just that good.

On top of that, Carter is still dealing with the wrist injury he sustained in Week 1 and has been wearing a cast to protect it. Fangio admitted last week that he felt like it was affecting Carter's performance over the last few weeks, but it sure didn't in this game.

For the season, Carter has 13 tackles, five tackles for loss, three sacks, three forced fumbles, two quarterback hits, and one pass deflection.

He entered the season without the fanfare people hoped for after signing his four-year, $152 million contract extension early in training camp. The wrist injury has affected his play and set him back.

A performance like this reminds us how good Carter can be in the NFL and why the Eagles paid him so much. He can dominate up front, create pressure on the quarterback, and stop the run.

It's a shame he didn't get the help he deserved from the rest of the team. This will be an all-time performance that will be forgotten because the Eagles lost. Keep this game as a reminder of how awesome Carter is at football.
