A surprise has occurred for the Philadelphia Eagles that no one saw coming: Lane Johnson's status for the game is officially up in the air.
The Eagles just announced that Johnson is questionable for a personal reason. Philly is already out six players, including DeVonta Smith and Zack Baun.
Johnson has started all three game this season and only allowed two pressures going into the contest. This is going to be the last season Johnson plays in the NFL, as he announced during training camp that 2026 would likely be the last year.
Eagles may not have Lane Johnson for the Rams game
Johnson is such an important piece to this Eagles offense and potentially losing him would be rough. This offensive line has already had issues with Landon Dickerson on IR with a knee injury, Cam Jurgens moved over to left guard, and Drew Kendall starting at center.
If Johnson is not able to go, it would be the first start of Markel Bell's NFL career. Fred Johnson would be the other option at right tackle, but he is also out with an injury. Bell was selected in the third round of the 2026 NFL Draft in the hopes that he would be able to eventually replace Lane Johnson once he retired.
This is not the first time Johnson has had to step away from the team for a personal issue. He missed almost a week of practice during training camp, as he was also dealing with a personal matter, but would come back.
The Eagles are left in a situation where they could be out about six starters going into the Rams game. It would be a tough situation for the offense to be down two starting offensive linemen and a backup lineman.
A lot more pressure is going to be on quarterback Jalen Hurts to step up and carry this offense without multiple top players. Hurts has been in this situation before, so he knows how to get the job done no matter what.
It's a big game for the Eagles, as they are sitting at 2-1 and trying to avoid a two-game losing streak. They are coming off a loss to the Chicago Bears in Week 3.

This is going to be an interesting situation to see whether Johnson plays and what happens if Bell fills in.
