A ghost from the most recent past has occurred from Philadelphia Eagles fans as they forgot that he existed, but don't forget what he did to them.

The Eagles made a series of moves that included signing offensive guard Michael Jordan and edge rusher A.J. Epenesa and releasing linebackers Chandler Martin and Isiah King. Philly also released another player right after that, as the news was not included in the team's announcement: edge rusher Za'Darius Smith.

Eagles fans might remember that Smith was the original solution early last season to the team's pass rush problems, but he would play only five games for the franchise before announcing his retirement from the NFL, during which he racked up 10 tackles, three quarterback hits, two tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks. Now Philly has released him from the Reserve/Retired list, which allows him to sign elsewhere as a free agent.

Eagles let Za'Darius Smith go to sign elsewhere

When Smith first arrived in Philly, he was a great addition to a team that was struggling to get sacks on the quarterback. The problem is the good times didn't last long, and they decided to retire a third into the season, which upset fans.

It's not like the Eagles will be upset about this latest move, as the team is in a much better spot now after replacing him with younger, better Jaelan Phillips midway through last year, which worked out well. Philly has also added a key edge rusher in Jonathan Greenard as more of a long-term solution at the position.

Eagles fans have moved on from Smith despite the fact that he put them in a jam early last season. The team is much better off and got the best of the situation while Smith looks for a new home now.
