I know, I know, I know. Mekhi Becton may not be the most popular choice right now for the Philadelphia Eagles, but he could help address their current offensive line issues.
After Landon Dickerson was placed on IR for his knee injury, Cam Jurgens started at left guard and Drew Kendall at center for the Eagles' 24-20 win over the Tennessee Titans. It didn't go well. Jurgens got beat on six of his 45 pass-blocking snaps, while Kendall gave up two pressures.
Philly needs help on the offensive line and doesn't have time to mess around. Becton gives him a clear option to help them now instead of waiting for this situation to blow up in their face.
Don't resist the urge to support Mekhi Becton as an Eagle again
Becton played a critical role in the Eagles' Super Bowl run in 2024, going from left tackle for the New York Jets to starting right guard. That turned out to be profitable for Becton, as he landed a two-year contract with the Los Angeles Chargers in the 2025 offseason.
Los Angeles quickly regretted that move, with Becton struggling on the field and staying on it with injuries. He was ranked 31st last year in pressure rate percentage with 8.33%
Pro Football Focus slammed Becton with a 35.7 overall grade, ranking 79th out of 81 guards. He has a pass-blocking grade of 45.1 and a run-blocking grade of 34.3, the lowest among earned grades. Becton allowed 37 pressures, 27 hurries, seven hits, and three sacks, while being penalized five times.
Showing those horrific stats wasn't meant to disprove the exact point this article is trying to make. It's actually the opposite.
Becton was successful in Philly, and once he left, it all fell apart for him. He wasn't a good fit for the Chargers, and the Chargers in Los Angeles struggled with their offensive line throughout the season. Becton chased the money, and it backfired.
He has a chance to come to Philly and earn a second chance at redemption. It worked the first time he was here, and it can work the second time.
Becton paired well with Lane Johnson on the right side, so why couldn't he pair with another elite tackle in Jordan Mailata? The Eagles would be better off with Becton at left guard and Jurgens back where he is most comfortable: center.

Sure, this is an act of desperation, but there are far worse choices than bringing in a guy who was actually good for you and helping his career.
