It was one of the most eventful weeks in Philadelphia Eagles history, as a lot of news surrounding the team.

The Eagles saw players retire, get traded, and plenty who got hurt. It felt like every day this week there was something happening within the team, and many thought this was going to be a drama-free season with A.J. Brown gone.

Here is everything Eagles fans need to know about this week in team news.

  1. Jalen Hurts showed up on final Eagles injury report
  2. Lane Johnson & Cam Jurgens are no longer on the Eagles
  3. Andy Dalton released by the Eagles
  4. Jake Majors, Carson Steele, Dameon Pierce called up from practice squad
  5. Former Eagles tight end Mike Ditka passed away at the age of 86

Jalen Hurts showed up on final Eagles injury report

Just the kind of news the Eagles fan base needed to see before the weekend began. On the Eagles' final injury report, Hurts showed up with a calf injury, but was still a full participant and should be in line to play.

It will certainly make things more interesting, as the Eagles have so many injuries that they can't afford to lose Hurts. Expect less running; he'll win the game from the pocket in shotgun to reduce strain on his calf.

Lane Johnson & Cam Jurgens are no longer on the Eagles

Eagles fans were saddened to see multiple changes made by the offensive line this week that brings in a new era of Philly football. Two of the biggest catalyst to the 2024 Super Bowl championship team, Johnson and Jurgens, are off the team.

Johnson announced his retirement from the NFL after 14 years playing for the Philadelphia Eagles. He made six Pro Bowls and five All-Pro team selections, while also being one of four Eagles to win the Super Bowl.

Meanwhile, the Baltimore Ravens traded for Jurgens for a 2027 seventh-round pick. The Eagles received a 2027 fifth-round pick and a 2028 second-round pick.

Andy Dalton released by the Eagles

The Dalton nightmare in Philly is over, as the team released him. This move likely created roster space, as reports indicate the Eagles will likely put Dalton back on the practice squad. Dalton threw just one pass this season, but it was an ugly interception in the Week 3 loss to the Chicago Bears.

Still, it closes an odd chapter for the Eagles, as general manager Howie Roseman was stubborn about keeping four quarterbacks, but finally decided to do the right thing. Fans just hope Roseman doesn't make that mistake again.

Jake Majors, Carson Steele, Dameon Pierce called up from practice squad

So many injuries and departures on the offensive line and at running back have opened the door for Majors, Steele, and Pierce to be elevated and play in Week 5. Johnson is retired, Jurgens was traded, Drew Kendall is ruled out with a knee injury, Saquon Barkley is ruled out with a hamstring injury, and Tank Bigsby is on IR with a knee injury.

Majors will come in and start at center, while Pierce will back up Shipley. Steele will be the third-string running back, but will most likely contribute more on special teams.

Former Eagles tight end Mike Ditka passed away at the age of 86

Sad news in the NFL as Hall of Fame tight end and head coach Mike Ditka passed away at the age of 86. He was most known for revolutionizing the tight end position and led the Chicago Bears to their only Super Bowl in franchise history as the head coach.

Ditka also played for the Eagles in 1967 and 1968, catching 39 passes for 385 yards and four touchdowns. He went on to finish his career with the Dallas Cowboys.
