Tell the truth. You had no idea that Zack Baun could be this good. Zack Baun didn't even know he could be this good. Neither did the Philadelphia Eagles' vice president/general manager. Still, for whatever reason, Howie Roseman placed an incentive in Zack's contract anyway.
Said incentive stated if Baun made the Pro Bowl roster, he'd earn an additional $500,000. There isn't a Birds fan in the Delaware Valley or anywhere else in our great country that doesn't know how that scenario worked out.
Baun signed to a one-year deal on March 13, 2024. We thought he might make the roster, but we weren't sure. Fast forward to the present, he finished Philly's regular season leading the team in solo (93) and total tackles (151). He also led the team in forced fumbles (5) while snagging an interception.
He made the Pro Bowl roster and cashed in on that $500,000. He was named First-Team All-Pro. No one was more shocked (or thankful) than Philadelphia's GM.
Eagles news: Zack Baun shares a funny story about Howie Roseman's reaction to his All-Pro nod.
Here's an interesting watch. Check out Zack Baun's appearance on the Takeoff Podcast. It's great interview. He also shared a funny take on this story.
There's an old saying. Sometimes, it's good to be wrong. We were wrong about Baun. He was wrong about himself, but this is what you'd call a nice surprise. Let's hope he sticks around, but something tells us he probably will.
So do recent statements made by Howie Roseman...
More Eagles news: We salute Birds fans for helping out!
You've probably heard, but Birds fans get a bad rap sometimes. We won't lie to you though. Sometimes, that rap is well-earned, but that isn't always the case.
Eagles fans can be some of the warmest people walking the planet, and on this platform, we salute them when they do tremendous things. Here's an example.
Madison Williams penned a nice read for our buddies at Sports Illustrated: Eagles Fans Make Generous Donation to L.A. Wildfire Relief Ahead of Playoff Game vs. Rams. At the time of this story's release, over $23,000 has been donated via a new GoFundMe page, Support LA: Eagles Fans Unite for Wildfire Relief. An effort like that certainly is worth a mention in our book.
