All of a sudden, that decision to keep four quarterbacks on the Philadelphia Eagles' 53-man roster doesn't look as crazy anymore.
Early in the Seattle Seahawks' 13-10 win over the New England Patriots, quarterback Sam Darnold got hurt and had to leave the game with a hip injury. Darnold was ruled out for the Seahawks, but things are not looking so good for him, as he is expected to either miss some time or be out for the season.
Seattle will be rolling with Drew Lock for the moment, but will they for long, though? The Eagles might have the perfect quarterback solution for the Seahawks.
Eagles could trade QB to Seahawks after the Sam Darnold injury
It just feels like the perfect situation for the Seahawks to have the Eagles call them up about a trade with a quarterback. Philly has two capable quarterbacks, Andy Dalton and Tanner McKee, who could do the job.
Dalton and McKee have been competing for the backup quarterback job, which has not been decided yet, even days before the Washington Commanders' Week 1 showdown. Both have had their ups and downs during OTAs, training camp, and the preseason, making the decision tough.
This trade would work because the Seahawks are running an offense similar to the one the Eagles are running under new offensive coordinator Sean Mannion. Seahawks offensive coordinator Brian Fleury is from the Kyle Shanahan coaching tree and runs a similar offense, so the transition for Dalton or McKee would be smooth.
What could the Eagles get out of a trade with one of their quarterbacks? It would most likely be a Day 3 pick, but it wouldn't be a seventh-round pick. Philly could take advantage of the situation and make the Seahawks pay a fourth- or fifth-round pick to land either Dalton or McKee.
Lock probably still ends up being the long-term starter in the regular season, depending on the severity of Darnold's injury. Still, McKee or Dalton would be more reliable backups than Jalen Milroe.

Knowing Eagles general manager Howie Roseman, he's likely calling the Seahawks to see if they'll trade either of their quarterbacks. If the Eagles could pull off a trade for Dalton or McKee in exchange for a high Day 3 draft pick, that would be the reason why fans need to stop questioning Roseman's decisions.
