Eagles shouldn't ignore Moro Ojomo trade offers (even if an NFC East team calls)

It's worth hearing them out.

The trade deadline is inching closer, and the Philadelphia Eagles will be one of the teams to watch before November 10. One name everyone will be monitoring is defensive tackle Moro Ojomo.

With a 2-6 record this season, the Eagles are more likely to be sellers at the trade deadline. If general manager Howie Roseman brings in talent, it will be young players who are on rookie contracts with two or three years left.

The Eagles have nearly 30 players who are likely in the final year of their contracts or on one-year deals. Ojomo seems to be the Eagles' most popular option, especially for teams that need a defensive tackle.

Eagles might have a chance to trade away Moro Ojomo and they shouldn't pass up on it

Ojomo has already had a good start to the 2026 season. He has racked up 21 tackles, 18 pressures, 14 hurries, four quarterback hits, and three tackles for loss in eight games.

Pro Football Focus gave him a 57.6 overall grade, ranking him 73rd out of 128 eligible interior defensive linemen. He also earned a pass-rush grade of 56.5 (ranked 96th) and a run-defense grade of 57.1 (ranked 56th).

Many NFL teams have already been calling about Ojomo because he's 25, and the Eagles might have to pass on him because of the tight salary cap right now. However, there have been indications that the Eagles might have something else in mind.

Sports Illustrated NFL reporter Albert Breer recently reported that the Eagles were not interested in trading Ojomo away. This suggests the team may be trying to lock him up long-term in Philly, along with Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis.

That hasn't stopped teams like the Jacksonville Jaguars from calling the Eagles about whether Ojomo is available in a trade. Philly could be sharing that news with Breer to drive up offers for Ojomo. An interesting team to watch out for that wants a defensive tackle at the trade deadline that the Eagles should actually talk to: the New York Giants.

Giants are interested in adding a defensive tackle and the Eagles shouldn't completely stop it

The Giants have been active in the defensive tackle market over the past week. Giants head coach John Harbaugh called the Tennessee Titans about Jeffery Simmons before the Chicago Bears completed the trade. Now New York is interested in acquiring Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive tackle Vita Vea.

While a Vea trade is very unlikely, the Giants are trying to add some defensive tackle help. Sitting at 4-2-1, New York is close, and they want to make sure they can win the NFC East and make a postseason run.

Philly actually has a good solution for them with Ojomo. Now, before every Eagles fan starts losing their minds about doing an in-division trade, this franchise has a history of doing it. They traded Donovan McNabb to Washington, and just in the 2026 NFL Draft, Philly made a deal with the Dallas Cowboys to move up.

That said, there is only one way a Giants trade with Moro Ojomo works: you get a first-round pick or a package that includes a second-rounder and one or two other picks. The Eagles need to invest in the future with strong picks before sending one of their young talents to a rival.

This would be a tough decision for the Eagles, but if they get a really good draft pick or picks from the Giants, it shouldn't be something to push aside just because they are in the NFC East.
