Eagles survive a few injury scares but aren't so lucky with two veterans
With another win, the Philadelphia Eagles improve their record to 9-2. They trail only the 10-1 Detroit Lions for the best record in the National Football Conference. They also have a shot at a first-round bye come playoff time.
Their most recent win doubles as one of the regular season's most impressive. they notched a 37-20 win over the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday Night Football.
This one was costly however. We saw a few injuries, but the Birds were fortunate to survive a scare with one of them.
Three eagles finish a tough game on high notes, but the news isn't good for Darius Slay and Brandon Graham.
Football is certainly a demolition derby, a war of attrition. We saw some scary moments in Week 12.
Darius Slay and Reed Blankenship exited the game on the first Rams offensive drive because of friendly fire. They'd return, but Slay would later have to leave the field of play. He wouldn't return a second time.
The diagnosis is a concussion. We hope he returns sooner rather than later. The news isn't so good for Brandon Graham. He's torn his tricep and sadly his swan-song season is officially over.
Josh Sweat and Saquon Barkley both left the field of play for a spell with somewhat scary injuries of their own. Both returned. Saquon would have a monster night. He'd set a franchise record for rushing yards in a single game and is still on pace to exceed 2,000 rushing yards.
Reed Blankenship is a tough son of a gun. He finished this one upright. But, the big injury news here surrounds both B.G. and Slay.
We hope the latter returns soon. And, if this was the final game we have seen played by the former, we tip our caps. It's been one heck of a ride.
Selfishly, we hope he comes back and goes out on his terms after one more Eagles season.
