With the Philadelphia Eagles focused on their Wild Card game against the San Francisco 49ers, the rest of the NFL is in full-on panic mode as teams scramble to make their coaching changes.

Every move that gets made is dissected in multiple ways, creating other questions in the process. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported in his recent article that there might be lingering questions about a coach on the Eagles' staff: offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo.

"Some around the league are wondering about the future of Kevin Patullo because of the offense's struggles. Patullo has clout in Philadelphia because of his strong relationships with key players and a long-standing position as a Nick Sirianni confidant. The offensive line's quality of play has certainly not been the same as last year's, which is bad timing for Patullo. The offense ranks 24th in yards per game, which is tough considering the overall talent of the group."

Eagles fans would like to raise their hands with the answer

Besides the 24th-ranked total offense, the Eagles' offense has been below average in multiple ways. Their offensive line has been banged up, with little chance to build continuity together, which has caused a domino effect on the running game, with Saquon Barkley barely getting 50% of the yards he had in 2024.

Something numbers won't show is that Patullo has been the unit's biggest problem. The play calling has been utterly confusing as he has struggled to get into a rhythm with what play works best in a situation. He will call anything from his surrender RB draws on third and long to running 15-20 hitch routes a game.

The lack of creativity in Patullo's play-calling makes it impossible for this offense to succeed at the Super Bowl level expected by the Eagles' fan base, which has been the expectation all year long. They had pretty much all the same pieces one year ago, and a Lombardi Trophy was hoisted in Philadelphia. Now, they might be lucky just to get through the Divisional Round of the playoffs.

It's a toss-up as to whether the Eagles will bring Patullo back in 2026, but with all these big names like Mike McDaniel becoming available, it would be hard for Nick Sirianni to resist them, especially when his friend is running the offense the way he has all season.
