Philadelphia Eagles fans were hoping to have some questions answered about the offense by the end of the season, but four months later, there still aren't.
Eagles offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo continues to struggle in his first year, as the offense has not found consistency in any aspect of its play. From the play calling to the performances, nothing about this season has offered any hope that this unit will all of a sudden flip the switch in the postseason.
During his media availability, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni responded to a question about whether the offense has found its identity. Sirianni seems to believe so, but what that identity is, though, we all assume is only for the coaching staff to know.
"I do. I think we are continuing to get better through that," Sirianni said via Bleeding Green Nation's Brandon Lee Gowton. "And I think that it's shown in some of these last games. Obviously, Buffalo, we had a bad half where we didn't a good enough job of coaching, we didn't do a good enough job of playing. But, yeah, I think we have."
So...what is the Eagles' offensive identity?
Sirianni 100% circled around the question to say they do, but say anything but what that specific identity is. Credit to Sirianni for not being negative about everything with the offense like everyone else is, but it would be refreshing at some point for him to be brutally honest about how bad this unit has looked.
The stats speak for themselves:
- 24th in total offense (311.2 yards per game)
- 23rd in passing (194.3 yards per game)
- 18th in rushing (116.9 yards per game)
- 19th in scoring (22.3 points per game)
That is a sign of a unit that has no identity and is still trying to figure it out, going into game number 18. They have tried to run the ball, but the offensive line is inconsistent and then tried passing it, but they are only running slants, screens, and hitch routes.
At some point, Sirianni has to do something with this offense, as it might be too late in the season. There are options in the offseason. Everyone has tried to give Patullo a chance, and after one season, the experiment has failed.

Eagles fans will have to suffer with Patullo just a little longer, and then, hopefully, the team will get it resolved correctly in the offseason.
