Welp, the Philadelphia Eagles are certainly not looking good after the latest news on a former player of theirs.
ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that former Eagles quarterback Kyle McCord was traded from the Green Bay Packers to the Miami Dolphins in exchange for a 2028 sixth-round pick. McCord had a fantastic preseason with the Packers, completing 65.7% of his passes for 446 yards and four touchdowns.
It was a very different story for the Eagles last year after drafting McCord in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft. He completed 42.9% of his passes for 191 yards and one touchdown to two interceptions.

Wow. What a bad look for the Eagles to see what is going on with McCord.
Throughout training camp last year, there were so many reports about how much McCord struggled in practice and in-game. With McCord and Dorian Thompson-Robinson battling for the QB3 job, neither guy won the job, and the Eagles let both go and traded for Sam Howell.
The Eagles are not exactly looking good with this development. McCord is playing like a guy who could be a long-term backup quarterback, so what happened?
Philly was able to develop Tanner McKee well, but that's about it. No other young quarterback has been able to succeed since McKee.
One question that has to be asked is who does that fall on? Last year, it was offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo who should have helped with McCord's development and it didn't happen. That's a problem.
The Eagles resolved it with Sean Mannion taking over as the offensive coordinator, but fans don't know about new Eagles rookie QB Cole Payton. Philly ended up letting Payton play in less than 25 offensive snaps, so that didn't help with his development.
This might end up being a problem that the Eagles are going to need to address in the future. If the so called "QB Factory" aren't actually developing quarterbacks, that is a bad look for the organization. They need to have young quarterbacks doing well for them.

It'll be interesting to see how McCord does and it's nice to see that he has turned his career around. Eagles fans just wished it would have happened in Philly instead of Green Bay and now Miami.
