Family ties might make Eagles' decision at NFL Draft too good to pass up on

They should get him!

The Philadelphia Eagles will be taking a heavy look at the offensive line going into the 2026 NFL Draft, as they have to find depth among the group.

Philly fans got a scare from Lane Johnson and Landon Dickerson as they almost retired. The Eagles also lost top depth players on the line like Brett Toth and Matt Pryor, making it now too easy a decision to go offensive lineman in the draft.

Eagles reporter James Simone shared that Penn State offensive lineman Nick Dawkins will have a local day visit with the Eagles. Dawkins started at center for the Nittany Lions, was an honorable mention All-Big Ten team selection, and won the Allstate Wuerffel Trophy for community service as a member of the AFCA Good Works Team in 2024.

Nick Dawkins makes too much sense for Eagles

Dawkins has proven to be a great leader and a great depth piece for the Eagles. He could be the next Toth, as he is versatile at both guard and center.

The Eagles would love to have him on the team, as Dawkins has a cousin who was a pretty good player in Philly at one point: Brian Dawkins. Over the years, the Eagles have had good luck adding family members of former Eagles to the team, as they had running back Kenneth Gainwell, who was related to former Eagles defensive tackle Fletcher Cox, as they are cousins, and Jeremiah Trotter Jr.'s father, former Eagles linebacker Jeremiah Trotter Sr.

Nick Dawkins would make sense as a solid Day 3 pick for the Eagles, as the team does have other needs like offensive tackle, wide receiver, tight end, and edge rusher. Philly will be addressing the offensive line multiple times in the draft, so Dawkins is very much in play later in it.

Watch for the Eagles to go after the offensive line, and Dawkins could end up being one of their picks in a month.
