This offseason, the Philadelphia Eagles got off to a rough start when fans heard reports that starting offensive linemen Lane Johnson and Landon Dickerson were thinking about retirement. Well, Eagles fans won't have to worry about that anymore.
Last week, Johnson confirmed that he was coming back for the 2026 season after telling The Philadelphia Inquirer's Jeff McLane. Several reporters, including Derrick Gunn, also reported that Dickerson was expected back, but he never confirmed it.
Dickerson finally took to Instagram, posting two photos: one of him coming out of the tunnel and the other of him yelling in the huddle. With the caption of two Eagles emojis, it seems to confirm that he will truly be back in 2026.
Landon Dickerson confirms he's back for the 2026 season
The Eagles selected Dickerson in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft, and he was instantly the team's starting left guard from Day 1. In just his second season, he became a Pro Bowler and made it on the team three years in a row.
Last season was not a great one for Dickerson, as injuries plagued his performance all year. Pro Football Focus graded him out at a 67.2, ranking him 30th out of 81 offensive guards in the NFL. In 468 pass blocking snaps, he allowed 32 pressures, seven quarterback hits, and five sacks. He committed five penalties in 15 games played.
It was clear to everyone watching him play that he was not the same guard he had been the last three years, as he struggled in pass protection, and the run game could not break out the way it had the last few seasons. Nothing seemed to go right for Dickerson, and he continued to battle through injuries until he considered retirement, frustrated by being hurt all the time.
This is great news for the Eagles, though, as they now have two of their top offensive linemen back for the 2026 season. Even if Dickerson's performance wasn't 100% great, he has a chance to rest in the offseason and get his body back to where it needs to be before next season.

The hope is that Dickerson can be back at full strength for the 2026 season and be the three-time Pro Bowler Eagles fans have come to know him as.
