For the past month, the Philadelphia Eagles fan base has been sweating it out to hear official word about their future Hall of Fame right tackle, Lane Johnson, and whether he will play in 2026.
The Philadelphia Inquirer's Jeff McLane shared that Johnson told him that he will be playing in 2026. Johnson has been with the organization since being selected fourth overall in the 2013 NFL Draft.
During that span, Johnson has been a Pro Bowler six times and a first-team All-Pro selection two times. Johnson missed the last seven games of the 2025 season due to a foot injury he suffered in the win over the Detroit Lions back in November.
Lane Johnson is officially back with the Eagles in 2026
This is massive news and a good one; the Eagles fan base needed it after all the scares of Johnson's potential retirement and defensive coordinator Vic Fangio and left guard Landon Dickerson thinking about retirement as well. Fangio is also staying for one more year, but Dickerson has not yet made a decision.
Johnson will obviously be coming into a completely different situation in Philly, with his old offensive line coach, Jeff Stoutland, gone and now Chris Kuper taking over. He will have to learn a whole new scheme, but Johnson has been through three different head coaches in Philadelphia, so he should be able to adjust well.
Last season was looking like another All-Pro year for Johnson before his foot injury. In 262 pass blocking snaps, Johnson did not allow a quarterback hit or sack.

The Eagles move forward now in 2026 with Johnson back and will be starting on the line. Whether he can stay healthy all year will be the biggest question.
