The Philadelphia Eagles' offensive line had so many problems with injuries and trying to stay healthy, but there were two players who consistently played throughout the year: left tackle Jordan Mailata and right guard Tyler Steen.
Mailata is an All-Pro talent on the line, so there were never really any concerns about him, but Steen needs more work with some Eagles fans not having 100% faith that he can get the job done. Eagles general manager Howie Roseman talked about the offensive line and confirmed the team's feelings on Steen starting in 2026.
“We got four Pro Bowl players coming back on our offensive line, which is exciting," Roseman said via Bleeding Green Nation's Alexis Chassen. "We feel like we got some young talent there, as well. Tyler Steen will be in his second year as a starter, and we haven’t hit free agency or the draft.”
Should Eagles want to have Steen back in 2026?
One thing about Steen that is important for the Eagles at this point is that he is reliable. He didn't miss a single game and was always out on the field, which is important after the injury issues with Lane Johnson, Landon Dickerson, and Cam Jurgens.
Last season, despite some inconsistencies, Steen looked relatively solid in his right guard role, allowing 36 pressures, two sacks, and one quarterback hit in 589 pass-blocking snaps. Where he struggled last year was penalties, as he was called for nine. Pro Football Focus graded him out at a 71.6 overall, ranking 17th out of 81 guards in the NFL.
Some fans believe that when Mekhi Becton becomes available in free agency, the Eagles should sign him and bring him back into the lineup. Steen didn't really do enough to warrant losing his job. Quite the opposite, actually: with more reps, he could become the next great Eagles offensive lineman, but he needs more time.

If the Eagles want to focus on the offensive line in free agency or the draft, it should be to find the eventual replacement for Johnson. Steen should be just fine for the time being.
