The season ended as badly as Philadelphia Eagles fans could have imagined it would after going 11-6 and then losing at home to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Wild Card.

Despite the winning record and taking the NFC East crown for the second straight season, it still felt like a failure after all the issues with the offense and the drama that had circled the Eagles' facility throughout the season. As Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni was answering the final question of the team's end-of-year press conference, general manager Howie Roseman made sure to add something quick in for the fans to hear.

"Can I clarify one thing?" Roseman said via The Athletic's Zach Berman. "I think it's important for our fans to understand. You can do whatever it takes to win now and still build for the future and still have those parallel paths. I just don't want it to get confused that we can't do whatever it takes to build a championship-caliber team next year, and also continue to have really good players on this team for the future. So, I just want to make sure that we're on the same page on that."

Howie Roseman wanted the fans to know exactly what is about to happen

This was a heads-up from Roseman to the fan base. He's warning them about what's about to happen in the offseason.

The Eagles may not be super aggressive in the offseason for the second straight season. At least they won't be going all in on free agency, as it could be another year of one-year deals for available players.

If the Eagles are going to be aggressive in anything, it's going to be through the draft. Many believe wide receiver A.J. Brown could be traded, which would lead to another pick or two coming the Eagles' way.

Philly may not have the cap space they need, and to be honest, if there is any cap space, they are saving it for key players like Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, Quinyon Mitchell, and Cooper DeJean, for when they are ready for new deals in the next two to three years. The Eagles are going to want to live off the rookies and young players to get cheaper deals while still getting production from them.

Everyone has their own definition of aggressiveness and Roseman just defined his. The Eagles will build for the future, but do it in a smart way.
