People love to criticize Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts because it creates clicks and views, but the numbers don't lie: Hurts is having a fantastic season.
Through eight games, Hurts has completed over 70% of his passes for 1,677 yards and 15 touchdowns to just one interception. He's also run for 207 yards and five touchdowns as he puts himself in the thick of the MVP conversation.
Eagles Director of Football Communications John Gonoude shared on social media a stat that is even more impressive about Hurts. Only four quarterbacks since 2000 have had 20 or more touchdowns and two or fewer turnovers through the first eight games. Those guys include Patrick Mahomes, Tom Brady, Russell Wilson, and Drew Brees.
Hurts is also one of three quarterbacks in that same time frame to have a 110+ passer rating and 70%+ completion percentage in their team's ninth game. Only Brees and Brady have done the same thing.
Yes, it's time to have Hurts in the MVP conversation
It's as clear as day that Hurts is putting up incredible numbers that most quarterbacks are not even close to doing. His ability to accurately throw the football in the pocket while protecting it and making plays on his feet makes him a unicorn of a player.
The haters of Hurts will hate it, but this is something he has been doing well since the 2022 season, when he really came into his own as a quarterback. He has two Pro Bowls, a second-team All-Pro, and a Super Bowl MVP to back that up.
Nobody in the media wants to give him credit for the work that he has done, but Hurts has established himself as one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. His 52-22 record as a starting quarterback in the regular season shows that he is a straight-up winner.

There's still plenty of time in the regular season for him to pad the numbers, but an impressive Week 10 performance against the Green Bay Packers could put him in the driver's seat for the MVP.
