It's time for Nick Sirianni to admit his Eagles offseason decision was wrong

Nick, you messed up.

The Philadelphia Eagles' offense has continued to look worse and worse over the past month, hitting a massive wall against the Chicago Bears in Week 13 that they haven't seen all season.

It was a disaster of biblical proportions with Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts losing a fumble and throwing an interception in the same game. The offense only had 87 yards rushing for the game. They converted only four of 12 third downs, which ultimately cost them a chance to win as they lost 24-13.

In what was arguably the worst performance of the season for the offense, of course, the first thought is "what about Kevin Patullo?" The question has to be asked, as the noise has hit an all-time high, with head coach Nick Sirianni now under fire for promoting his friend.

Sirianni must accept that he made a colossal mistake at offensive coordinator

Eagles fans knew the moment that Kellen Moore left the team last year to take the head coach job with the New Orleans Saints that there was going to be a problem at offensive coordinator. Patullo had been under Sirianni for a long time, so many figured that it should work just fine.

All this has shown is that Sirianni can't develop coaches to be offensive coordinators. He went through the same failures with Brian Johnson back in 2023, and it's happening all over again with Patullo.

This season, Eagles fans have reached their breaking point with Patullo, given the crazy number of draw plays on third and long. He has not been able to show any creativity with the play calls, as many outside of the NFL, like Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson, are pointing out the alignments of A.J. Brown, showing what kind of route is being run with either a hitch or out route.

Even in the Bears game late in the fourth quarter, Patullo called a pass play with no one getting open, and Hurts had to roll out of the pocket to throw an incompletion. That would have been the time to run a QB draw with the middle of the field wide open.

So what needs to happen? Sirianni needs to strip Patullo of play-calling duties and take over the rest of the season. Firing him won't do much for the Eagles, as it will only make things worse. Sirianni can fire him after the season is over.

It might be tough to ask Sirianni to call plays since he has made multiple questionable calls over the last four games. that has hurt them. Eagles fans can look at it as Sirianni couldn't make things worse, right?

This is all a chain of command with Patullo failing the offense, and Sirianni has failed Patullo and the team. It may be time for Howie Roseman and Jeffrey Lurie to meet with Sirianni and tell him what needs to be done: either take Patullo's play-calling duties away or fire him.
