The Philadelphia Eagles certainly didn't waste any time in getting one of their new players under contract.
NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported that the Eagles have signed rookie first-round pick Makai Lemon to a four-year, fully guaranteed contract with an $11.5 million signing bonus. Lemon was the 20th overall pick of the 2026 NFL Draft after the Eagles traded up from pick 23 to pick 20 with the Dallas Cowboys to secure Lemon.
Last season, Lemon won the Fred Biletnikoff Award as the nation's best wide receiver as well as an unanimous All-American selection. He caught 79 passes for 1,156 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Eagles signed Makai Lemon to a four-year contract
The Eagles certainly worked quickly, getting a deal done with Lemon much faster than they did with linebacker Jihaad Campbell last year. Lemon is the first player from the 2026 NFL Draft to be signed by their team.
Lemon is viewed as the replacement for veteran A.J. Brown, as he has been the subject of trade talks. Despite Lemon being more of a slot receiver, his production is expected to be solid in his first season in the NFL.
The Eagles' wide receiver room is deep going into the 2026 season, as they also brought in Dontayvion Wicks, Marquise "Hollywood" Brown, and Elijah Moore. Lemon might be the most important as he has a chance to play a massive role in the offense this upcoming season.
This might be seen as a clear sign that the Eagles are going to want to move fast to get their draft picks signed, as Lemon was the first domino. Expect more signings in the coming days and weeks.
