The Philadelphia Eagles are 2-0 to begin the 2026 NFL Season, but that has not come without some shaky football. Yes, the record is what it is, but the team has barely scraped past the Washington Commanders and Tennessee Titans, two of the worst teams in the sport.
In the first half of games, the Eagles have a +9-point differential, but in the second half, that number is -3. Philly has had a somewhat difficult time closing out games. In the coming weeks, the schedule does get a bit tougher, and with the NFC East likely being a two-horse race between them and the Dallas Cowboys, each win is going to be precious.
With the schedule ramping up in difficulty, it sets the stage for quarterback Jalen Hurts to do what he's done his entire career - play his best statistical football in the month of October.

October 4th vs. Los Angeles Rams
October 11th @ Jacksonville Jaguars
October 18th vs. Carolina Panthers
October 26th vs. Dallas Cowboys
Not only were Los Angeles and Jacksonville playoff teams last year, but the Carolina Panthers offense has looked quite potent across the first two weeks, and the primetime showdown against Dallas is going to be a close game, as are most divisional games.
Philly splitting these four games would not be the worst thing in the world, but being able to at least win three of four, and perhaps winning that home showdown against Dallas, would be ideal. Fortunately, Hurts has done this in the month of October in his NFL career:

Hurts passer rating in October is nearly 10 points higher than it is in any other month, and his 51 total touchdowns in this month are much more than in the rest of the months as well. Simply put, Hurts is at his best in October, and it's going to be needed.
The Eagles again went through some drastic changes this offseason. Sean Mannion is in as the offensive coordinator, and the team is without A.J. Brown. Pro Bowl guard Landon Dickerson is on IR, and running back Saquon Barkley is not a lock to play this upcoming week and might be in a slow decline.
If there was any time in the regular season for the Eagles to lean on their QB, it's now. Hurts is far from perfect and has his flaws, but he's also a winner and someone who has already appeared in two Super Bowls and has finished with a winning record each year he's been the full-time starter.
It's really as simple as it appears to be - the schedule gets tougher, and Hurts' play gets better next month. It could be a perfect storm brewing for Philly. With injuries and overall offensive uncertainty for the bulk of the season, the leader of the football team is the one who needs to steer this ship.

Hurts continuing his high-end October production would be an absolutely perfect scenario for this franchise.
