We know it's a problem.

There's no sugar coating it: the Philadelphia Eagles' offense was not good in their 31-25 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

It was truly a tale of two halves for the Eagles' offense. In the first half, they were firing on all cylinders with 201 yards and 24 points. All of a sudden, right tackle Lane Johnson gets knocked out of the game and the offense stalls out once again, but this time for the whole second half with four drives of negative yards.

Philly finished with just 200 total yards of offense. Jalen Hurts didn't have a single completion in the second half. Saquon Barkley averaged 2.3 yards per rush on 19 total carries. A.J. Brown had two catches for seven yards on nine targets the whole game.

This is not the Eagles' offense fans are used to, but it has unfortunately become the norm early in the season. So what gives? What's going on with this offense?

Hurts offers up an almost too simple explanation to the offensive problems

After the game, Hurts spoke with the media, who grilled him on the offensive issues throughout the game. He was asked about what worked for the Eagles in the first half. His explanation was simple.

"It's just about execution."

The follow up for what didn't work in the second was even simpler.

"Execution."

Even with the execution concerns for the offense, that hasn't bothered Hurts in the least. He later responded to how he feels the offense is looking moving forward.

"I think we're in a good place now. We have opportunity for us. We're looking at the standard of execution. You guys can look at the record and be a hound for negativity in some regard, but regardless where you are this early in the season, you're still trying to elevate and play to a standard and play to a standard of execution."

Hurts is sticking to his guns. He isn't going to throw the offense under the bus, and he's going to keep any issues behind closed doors. A lot of respect to him for doing that.

Eagles fans are aware of the issues with the offense and recognize that Hurts isn't naive to them. Philly is a quarter of the way through the season and still has plenty of time to address these issues, maintaining a comfortable 4-0 record as a buffer before the "execution" excuse starts to wear off.
