During the first week of Philadelphia Eagles training camp, there was some heavy criticism of the way the offense was performing.

Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts faced a ton of heat for his performance. He didn't throw a touchdown pass, took multiple sacks, and struggled with chemistry with his receivers, resulting in multiple incompletions. One positive is that he didn't throw an interception in the first three practices.

Most Eagles fans were logical and decided to give this offense and Hurts time to get into a rhythm. That patience finally paid off in a big way as Hurts got back on track.

Jalen Hurts turned heads in Day 4 of Eagles training camp

Starting off with the negative, yes, Hurts did throw his first interception of training camp. It was All-Pro Quinyon Mitchell who picked off Hurts and returned it back for a touchdown.

After that, though, Hurts was playing lights-out football. SportsRadio 94 WIP Eagles reporter Eliot Shorr-Parks kicked off the coverage by saying Hurts was great on one drive.

"Jalen Hurts and the 1st team offense with their best series of camp so far," Shorr-Parks said. "First throw a deep shot to Wicks. Second throw sideline to Devonta. Third throw middle of the field to Moore. Super impressive."

Next up on the Eagles reporter roundtable was Bleeding Green Nation's Brandon Lee Gowton. He detailed Hurts' first touchdown of training camp to DeVonta Smith.

"Jalen Hurts looking good today," Gowton said. "Red zone sequence where he hit DeVonta Smith for a TD and then again while rolling right and throwing left to beat Riq Woolen for 2 point conversion."

Closing it out was The Athletic's Zach Berman talking about one specific pass that got everyone's attention. Berman call one pass from Hurts to Elijah Moore the best pass of the summer.

"Perhaps the best pass I’ve seen from Jalen Hurts this summer: A tight-window pass deep down the middle to Elijah Moore in stride. Hurts was pumped after the pass. Rightfully so — the type of throw that will enhance the passing game in this offense."

It was exactly the kind of momentum the Eagles needed to have in training camp. Hurts and the offense had been struggling, but the day off from practice really helped them regroup.

The potential of this offense is there for them. They just need time to grow into it and develop the kind of chemistry that is needed to make them successful.

Hurts has been criticized all offseason for not being able to make all the throws and not working the middle of the field. This is just proof that all of that noise was just nonsense from people trying to rile up the fan base.

It appears for the moment the Eagles' offense is back on track and looked good doing it. Now it's a matter of making sure that Hurts and the unit continue this success throughout the rest of camp. That consistently will make or break this team entering the 2026 season.
