Jeff Stoutland threw Kevin Patullo under the bus (and Eagles fans 100% agree)

We know what happened, Jeff. We know.

Last season was as close to a disaster offensively as it could have been for the Philadelphia Eagles with Kevin Patullo in his one and only season as the offensive coordinator.

The Eagles finished in the bottom 15 in total offense, passing offense, rushing offense, and scoring. Despite the team winning the NFC East, there was a lot of criticism directed at Patullo for his predictable play-calling and his inability to adjust to games in the second half.

One of the unfortunate casualties of the Patullo disaster was now former Eagles offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland, who left the franchise during the offseason after being offered a spot on new OC Sean Mannion's staff. Stoutland spoke on the "New Heights" podcast with co-host and former Eagles center Jason Kelce, as the coach discussed what happened with the offense last season, with a subtle shot at Patullo.

“I think anytime things don’t go well, and I don’t want to sound like I’m on an interview, but it’s the truth — it’s execution, it’s calling the right plays at the right time, and not running bad plays into bad defenses. I mean, it ain’t that hard — that’s pretty much it.”

Jeff Stoutland didn't directly say it, but Eagles fans got the Kevin Patullo message

It's too bad it didn't work out for Patullo, who is now the pass game coordinator for the Miami Dolphins, as he was very good on the Eagles' coaching staff until he got the OC job. If there is one mistake Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni made, it was giving the keys to the offense to his friend, who clearly was not ready for the job.

Too many times throughout the season, Patullo would call surrender running back draws on third and long and would lean heavily on the receivers running hitch routes. Everything about the offense was predictable and boring, which made it tough to watch week after week.

Stoutland took some criticism for the offensive line's play, which was by far the worst the unit has looked in a long time. To be fair, Lane Johnson missed the last eight games of the season to injury, and Landon Dickerson and Cam Jurgens were battling through their own injuries.

There's a new era of Eagles football, with Mannion as the play-caller and Chris Kuper coaching the offensive line. Let's just hope the fan base never has to see something like Patullo had ever again.
