Everyone knows by now that Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie is a big fan of his star quarterback Jalen Hurts, but he may not be as big a fan of another player on the team.
An interesting moment happened at the NFL owners' meeting during Lurie's press conference with reporters. He was asked about "Jalen's" potential contract extension and apparently thought the reporter meant Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter. Lurie responded interestingly with a not-so-enthusiastic response that he's "a very good player, and I’m optimistic" that a deal will get done.
A follow-up was asked about "Jalen's" 2025 season, and again, thinking he was talking about Jalen Carter, simply said, "Good." After that moment, Lurie had to ask reporters if they meant Carter or Hurts before moving forward with answering questions.
Jeffrey Lurie had an awkward moment about Jalen Carter
There's been a lot of chatter during the offseason about Carter, much of it involving him potentially getting a contract extension or his fifth-year option being picked up. At the same time, he was also the subject of some wild trade rumors, with him being a part of the Maxx Crosby trade talks at one point.
Carter's talent level is off the roof with two Pro Bowl selections in his three-year NFL career. Unfortunately for him, last season was not a good one for him in terms of his standing with the team.
Everyone focuses on the spitting incident in Week 1 with Dallas Cowboys starting quarterback Dak Prescott, who really rubbed people the wrong way with his behavior within the organization. This could be the big reason that Lurie has a sour taste in his mouth about Carter.

Lurie's response about Carter certainly shows that there might be trouble in paradise, and the young defensive tackle still has a lot of work to do to get back on Lurie's good side.
