All the praise that has been coming to Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Jordan Davis' way has been because of his work on the defensive line in 2025. Davis is getting honored for a much different reason.
On Wednesday, Davis earned his first career honor as he was named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week.

He played a small role in the first field goal block in the fourth quarter of the Eagles' 33-26 win over the Rams, with Jalen Carter getting credit for the first one. The second field goal blocked by the Eagles was the most important, as it was at the end of the game, and Davis got his paws on that one. Davis took it back 61 yards for the touchdown to seal the win.
Davis deserves all the praise that is coming his way
Usually, all the praise has been for Davis' defensive play as he has taken a much bigger role on the team. He's arguably been the best player on the defense as he has racked up 16 tackles, two tackles for loss, one quarterback hit, one sack, and three pass deflections in three games.
The secret sauce to Davis' newfound success has been the work he put in during the offseason to lose 26 pounds. This has helped him last longer in games and improve his speed. He's playing in 70% of the defensive snaps, a career-high for Davis.
Many looked at Davis as the hero of the Rams game, but he also saved them during their Week 1 win against the Dallas Cowboys when Carter was ejected for spitting. Davis stepped up to the plate and played one of the best games of his career.

The Eagles will continue to lean on their young defensive tackle to perform well. At this rate, NFC Special Teams Player of the Week won't be the only honor he wins in 2025.
