Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Jordan Davis has had quite the last week, as he earned himself a massive contract extension with the team.

The Eagles gave Davis a three-year, $78 million contract with $65 million guaranteed, which is now the largest contract in NFL history for a nose tackle. Last season, he racked up career-highs in tackles (72), quarterback hits (six), pass deflections (six), tackles for loss (five), and sacks (4.5).

The organization held a press conference for Davis after his contract extension, during which he discussed losing key teammates such as Jaelan Phillips, Reed Blankenship, Nakobe Dean, and Jahan Dotson. Reporters asked Davis about losing some key starters on the roster, but he wanted to make sure that he was clear about something.

“It’s not a rebuild, it’s a reload.”

Jordan Davis doesn't see Eagles are rebuilding

Davis should know, as he has seen change within the organization over the last four seasons he has been on the team. There have been plenty of good players who have left the team, including Josh Sweat, Milton Williams. C.J. Gardner-Johnson, Darius Slay, and more.

One thing about Eagles general manager Howie Roseman is that he will find the right talent for the roster. Roseman is great in the draft and can execute great trades like acquiring A.J. Brown on draft night for a first-round pick.

The Eagles did get some key players on the roster to add some talent this offseason. So far, they have added cornerback Riq Woolen, tight end Johnny Mundt, and brought back tight end Grant Calcaterra. There's a lot more work to do, but at least they have some new players to add to the roster.

All the signs are there that this is "Howie Season," and no one should be questioning it. Davis certainly won't be one of those who know what is about to happen.
