It certainly looked like, throughout the season, the Philadelphia Eagles were feeling the pressure of trying to repeat as Super Bowl champions.

Despite all the drama surrounding the franchise in 2025, they still finished 11-6 and won the NFC East. Eagles left tackle Jordan Mailata spoke with PHLY at the Super Bowl, where he was asked to reflect on the season, and He was honest about the struggles his team and he went through.

"It was a very long season. Injuries played a big part. The stress of trying to get back to where we were standard wise in that room. We knew we weren't playing the best football and every week was just a challenge to just get back to try to play dominate football and playing Eagle football. It got hard and this break has been for me at least, very reflective on how I handled the season, disecting every game and how I led in the locker room, the way I treated my teammates. For me that's all I have been doing and when you're trying to learn from on how to become a better leader into next year. It's my biggest takeaways."

Jordan Mailata acknowledged the struggles of the Eagles' 2025 season

Everything the Eagles did in 2025 was magnified to the point that many believed this team was the new America's Team, given the attention they received. It didn't help that A.J. Brown was all over the news, as well as Positivity Rabbits and Jalen Hurts reports were sneaking in there as well.

Any NFL team would kill to have an 11-6 season and make the playoffs, but the standard is different in Philadelphia. The Eagles have made the Super Bowl twice in four years and won one, so anything less than a Super Bowl title is considered a failure.

As Mailata alluded to, the offensive struggles were a major headache for the 2025 season, as they finished in the bottom 15 in total offense, passing, rushing, and scoring. For a unit that is consistently in the top five in rushing and top 10 in total offense, this was one of the worst seasons for the offense in the last two decades.

The Eagles jumped ahead of the problems on offense with a complete overhaul of the coaching staff, led by new offensive coordinator Sean Mannion. Philly is quietly making a promise of big, schematic changes to the offense that will bring him into the modern age of football.

There are many lessons from the 2025 season that are similar to those from the 2023 campaign. Eagles fans will have to wait and see the final results of all these changes coming to Philly for the 2026 season.
