If the Philadelphia Eagles didn't have enough to worry about as it is, there might now be another major problem brewing in the City of Brotherly Love.
One of the top stories in the offseason is the questions surrounding the offensive line. Right tackle Lane Johnson might be on the fence about retirement after his foot injury cost him the final eight games of the season, and the team now will not have offensive line coach and run game coordinator Jeff Stoutland after he announced he was leaving the team after 13 years.
The Philadelphia Inquirer's Jeff McLane added a whole new problem to the Eagles' offseason on his “unCovering the Birds” podcast, as starting left guard Landon Dickerson is no guarantee that he will play in 2026, as he could be thinking about retirement himself. A big reason for that is the number of injuries Dickerson had to fight through in the 2025 season, which might affect his decision.
Landon Dickerson could be thinking retirement after tough season with Eagles
Dickerson got hurt during training camp as he suffered a meniscus injury that forced him to undergo a minor procedure on it. He still battled through it and played 15 games, but it was clear he was not playing at the same level he had over the last few years.
In those 15 regular season games, Dickerson allowed 32 pressures, seven hits, five sacks, and committed five penalties. Pro Football Focus graded him out at a 67.2 overall, ranking him 30th out of 81 offensive guards in the NFL.
Prior to the 2025 season, Dickerson was ranked among the best guards in the NFL, having made the Pro Bowl for three consecutive years. He played a major role in helping the Eagles keep their success on the ground and win the Super Bowl during the 2024 campaign.
With Johnson's uncertainty, this could be a crushing blow to the Eagles if they somehow lose Dickerson as well. They already have depth concerns and questions about who will coach the unit, so losing a top young lineman who is just 27 would be a worst-case scenario for the Eagles.

There is still time in the offseason to see what happens, but what has already been a tough offseason could get rougher depending on Dickerson's decision. The Eagles fan base is praying for some good news to come soon.
