Landon Dickerson threw Eagles coaching staff under the bus after Cowboys collapse

Oh what is going on with the offense?

With a whole week to prepare for a game, fans would think the Philadelphia Eagles would have been ready for the Dallas Cowboys, but that appeared not to be the case with a 21-point blowout and a 24-21 loss to show for it from the Birds.

The Eagles struggled on the ground with just 63 yards and averaged 3.5 yards per carry. Eagles offensive guard Landon Dickerson was asked after the game about the struggles on the ground and said the Cowboys changed things up on defense.

"They gave us a defense that they rarely run and we just didn't execute the game plan we had."

Dickerson got specific with what kind of defense the Cowboys ran in the game that was different.

"Just five-down fronts. It's not usually, typically something they were running a whole lot, and turns out that was their flavor of the day."

Dickerson was asked as a follow up question to how they can counter the different schemes the defense shows.

"I think a big thing is ... time on task. Obviously, you can't run every play to every defense during the week, so I think we really just have to hone in on having a game plan for every defense that a team has run, and every possible defense that they could run, and make sure that we can execute against all of them."

Eagles' offense is not on the same page, and the proof is finally there

So, Dickerson basically said the coaching staff did not prepare them well enough for the different fronts the Cowboys could run. That is already off to a bad start from Eagles offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo, head coach Nick Sirianni, and the coaching staff.

Don't worry Eagles fans, it gets way worse.

The Philadelphia Inquirer's Jeff McLane added that when he asked Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts and Sirianni the same question, their answers did not match Dickerson's.

"I think that's just how they're built now, given the three interior defenders they have," Hurts said. "They want to keep their best guys on the field, and it's very effective, and it was something that we didn't handle as good as we like to. So good opportunity to build if that's something that teams show us."

"I think some of the things that we did today, we're trying to throw them out of it because when you have five men," Sirianni said. "Then they're gonna have one less guy there into the coverage. So we did some of those things, obviously, not well enough. Again, it comes back to how we scheme it against the different personnel groups and how we execute it."

This is clear and concrete evidence that the offense is not on the same page. Eagles fans have suspected this for weeks, and now it's as clear as ever that they aren't.

The loss to the Cowboys is just that much more embarrassing, as the coaching staff clearly did not adequately prepare the team for the game. While the players might play the game, the coaching staff deserves a ton of blame for this disaster.
