At this point, every Philadelphia Eagles fan understands the importance of the 2026 season for quarterback Jalen Hurts.

All offseason, there was a lot of noise around Hurts, with heavy criticism of the limitations to his game and the ESPN report that said he was uncoachable and changing plays. Later reports suggested there could be some behind-the-scenes questioning in Philly about whether he would be the team's future quarterback if he had another "average" season like 2025.

Hurts seems to have gotten the message, as he has put in the work this offseason and continues to do so with about three weeks left before training camp starts. He was seen working out with QB guru Quincy Avery and several teammates, including all three Eagles quarterbacks behind him on the depth chart, as well as nine Eagles tight ends and receivers.

Hurts has accomplished so much in his young career since the Eagles drafted him in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He has made three Pro Bowls, been selected as a second-team All-Pro, won over 69% of his regular season starts, made two Super Bowls, won a Lombardi Trophy, and was Super Bowl MVP.

Eagles fans might think that Hurts has nothing else to prove in his career, but he is clearly showing he does. He has always been an underdog and almost thrives off of being doubted. This is where Hurts always plays his best when his back is up against the wall and people are questioning him.

There is acknowledgment that Hurts is not the complete package as a quarterback and certainly has his flaws, but most NFL quarterbacks do. What makes Hurts great is that he is a dual-threat player who can use his legs and throw the ball accurately when it counts the most.

The 2026 season is a big one for him, as he learns a new offense under play-caller Sean Mannion and has almost an all-new group of wide receivers to throw to. Hurts is putting in the work now with the receivers to build that important chemistry with them and is getting coaching from Avery to be at the top of his game.

Things at OTAs didn't start out great for Hurts, so the work being done now is important. How things go from here might be even more important for his future, and these photos are proof of that.
