There are a lot of big decisions the Philadelphia Eagles need to make in the offseason regarding who to re-sign, and tight end Dallas Goedert is near the top of that list.
Goedert is coming off a record year, breaking the franchise record for receiving touchdowns in a season at tight end with 11. He proved to be a worthy goal-line threat for the Eagles' offense, but averaged under 10 yards per reception, the first time he has ever done that in his career.
With production going down for Goedert, the Eagles could be forced to make the tough decision to move on from him and find his replacement in the 2026 NFL Draft. Pro Football Focus's Dalton Wasserman predicts the Eagles to select Oregon tight end Kenyon Sadiq with the 23rd overall pick in the draft.
"Philadelphia may allow Dallas Goedert to leave in free agency, creating a significant void at tight end. The Eagles could look to fill that need with the uber-athletic Kenyon Sadiq. Sadiq’s 560 receiving yards ranked eighth among FBS tight ends this season, and he led the position with eight touchdown receptions."
Eagles take TE Kenyon Sadiq in the first round of mock draft
Sadiq is quite the receiving threat and would be a perfect weapon in the Eagles' offense. With A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith there, the Eagles need their tight end to be the number three threat in the passing game, and Sadiq would fit that role arguably better than Goedert can.
The Eagles have had a good run in the last decade-plus of finding good tight ends in the draft that develop into long-term starters. Some of those guys include Brent Celek, Zach Ertz, and Goedert. Philly doesn't like signing starting tight ends in free agency and would rather select a young one to develop.
Sadiq would arguably be the most athletic tight end the Eagles might ever have on their roster. He can do it all and make all the catches needed while being a precise route runner and creating yards after the catch.

When the right play caller is in place, this Eagles offense has the potential of being explosive, but the unit has lacked the consistency of a number three target in the passing game. Sadiq would solve that problem easily for the Eagles.
