The tides have certainly turned as the Philadelphia Eagles made a massive move in free agency to add a veteran wide receiver to the picture.
Philly signed wide receiver Marquise "Hollywood" Brown after spending the last week looking for a receiver to add to the offense. Last season with the Kansas City Chiefs, Brown caught 49 passes for 587 yards and five touchdowns in 16 games.
NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported that the Eagles are bringing Brown in on a one-year deal that is worth up to $6.5 million.
Eagles adding Marquise "Hollywood" Brown certainly changes things
Of course, the number one aspect of this story is that the Eagles are clearly saying their star wide receiver, A.J. Brown, will not be on the roster long enough. Marquise Brown could end up being his replacement in the offense.
More importantly, though, coughing up over $6 million means the Eagles are serious about getting the wide receiver position correct for the 2026 season. DeVonta Smith will be the lead receiver if A.J. Brown gets traded, but Marquise Brown easily comes in to be the new WR2 or WR3.
What helps with Brown is that he is known for his blazing speed and being a deep threat. The Eagles have missed that in their offense for a long time, so adding that kind of speed will certainly open it up in Philly.
The one-year deal also tells a lot about what the Eagles are thinking. Brown is a temporary fix for the Eagles and isn't seen as a long-term solution. That means the Eagles should be looking in the NFL Draft within the first three rounds to find a wide receiver who can step in and help be Smith's eventual number two guy.

There is some risk with Brown joining the Eagles, but Philly's offense got the upgrade they needed, and the money they put into him is certainly telling the whole story.
