At least that might not happen.

Everyone working inside and outside the NFL is still trying to wrap their minds around this stunning news, with Maxx Crosby and his trade.

After a failed physical, the Baltimore Ravens decided to back out of their trade with the Las Vegas Raiders to acquire Crosby. Baltimore originally gave up two first-round picks but will get them back.

While this does mean that the Eagles are back on the table to make a trade with Crosby, it also means their division rival, the Dallas Cowboys, are also in the conversation again, Well, The Athletic's Dianna Russini reported that might not be the case with a high-ranking source telling her that the Cowboys are not expected to get back in the Crosby sweepstakes.

Cowboys reportedly out of the conversation for Maxx Crosby

If this ends up holding up, the Eagles might avoid the harsh reality that the Cowboys could get one of the league's premier pass rushers. One reason why Dallas would not get back into the conversation is that they already traded for an edge rusher with the Green Bay Packers to acquire Rashan Gary. That means the Cowboys are rock solid at edge rusher and have no reason to re-engage with the Raiders.

Philly, on the other hand, is desperate for an edge rusher after they missed out on re-signing Jaelan Phillips. The Eagles could not compete with the Carolina Panthers, who gave him a four-year, $120 million contract to join their team.

Currently on the roster, the Eagles have Jalyx Hunt and Nolan Smith as the main edge rushers. While they are solid players, they can't make the kind of impact in a game that Crosby can on the ice.

Las Vegas might be moving quickly to get Crosby off the books, with the new league year mere hours away from starting, and the Raiders need cap space for all the moves they made, including signing former Eagles linebacker Nakobe Dean. As long as the Cowboys don't get involved, that will be just fine with the Eagles, as general manager Howie Roseman will no doubt call his old buddy, Raiders general manager John Spytek, to see how they can make a deal.
