It was a rough start to the 2026 NFL Draft for the Philadelphia Eagles, as the NFC East made some great selections on defense, while one of their top players on their draft boards was picked.
The Miami Dolphins decided to take Alabama offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor with their 12th overall pick in the first round. Proctor had been in the conversation with the Eagles after having a 30-visit with them during the pre-draft process.
Most mock drafts have had the Eagles taking Proctor with their draft pick, either at 23 or moving up into the top 20. Miami instead swoops in and gets its future starting offensive tackle on its line.
Eagles lose out on Kadyn Proctor to the Miami Dolphins
Well, that ends that dream of Proctor taking his 6-foot-7 frame to be the successor to right tackle Lane Johnson. Many thought the Eagles would be looking at Proctor and might have considered a trade up for him, but that is no longer going to happen.
This leaves Philly in an interesting situation where they need to do something in the draft with all the top players leaving the big board. The Eagles might have to consider other positions with the recent run of offensive tackles early in the draft.
Philly could still be looking at offensive tackle. The other options are edge rusher, safety, tight end, or wide receiver at 23 or earlier.
Another option is that the Eagles might have to consider trading back in the draft, since all their top prospects have already been taken. It might be smart to add some picks later in the draft if there isn't anyone they are completely in love with.
