Remember when there were reports that Dallas Cowboys defender Micah Parsons was thinking about requesting a trade? Well, good news, Philadelphia Eagles fans, it happened.

Parsons took to social media with a caption reading, "Thank you Dallas" and screenshotted his notes with a message saying that he has requested a trade.

This situation has been escalating all offseason, which started with Parsons wanting a contract extension. The Cowboys have not discussed it with Parsons' agent, as they would prefer to deal with the players themselves. After comments and shots taken from owner Jerry Jones, Parsons has put his foot down and now wants out.

Breaking down how this impacts the Eagles

Once Eagles fans are done laughing out loud for 15 minutes, let's talk about the impact of this move. The obvious: Philly doesn't have to deal with him in Dallas anymore. Parsons has made the Pro Bowl every season since his debut in the NFL in 2021. He's never had under 12 sacks in a season and has made two first-team All-Pros.

How realistic is it that the Cowboys would trade Parsons? Well, The Athletic's Dianna Russini has already reported that Dallas has no intentions of letting him leave the team. Shocker, Jones is making things worse.

The number one question that might be asked is if the Eagles should make a call for Parsons. Of course, they should. He's from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, so there's already a connection to the home state there.

There's no way Dallas would trade one of the NFL's best pass rushers to their rivals. It's not going to happen. It may not even be a possibility for Dallas to trade Parsons at all as they don't want to lose him, but they won't pay him more money either, so they are picking their poison.

It may not affect the NFC East division race as much as the Washington Commanders' wide receiver Terry McLaurin's request for a trade, since the Commanders are legitimate contenders, but it still has an impact. Dallas will likely deteriorate significantly and may even end up being just as bad, if not worse than, the New York Giants.

Parsons is a transformable player who can impact any team. The Eagles would love to either see him in the midnight green uniforms or at least move over to the AFC.
