Trades are happening rapidly in the NFL, leaving the Philadelphia Eagles front and center in a potential fire sale, starting with Moro Ojomo.

Philly's young defensive tackle has been at the center of trade rumors since he entersas the final year of his rookie contract. Many believe that since the Eagles already paid massive long-term money to Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter at the same position, there won't be room for Ojomo.

Ojomo's projected asking price could be a third-round pick, which would be good value for a young defensive tackle. Eagles general manager Howie Roseman might have other ideas, though.

Eagles may not want to trade Moro Ojomo at the trade deadline

Sports Illustrated NFL reporter Albert Breer shared an interesting report on the Eagles as the trade deadline approaches in about two weeks. Breer said Ojomo might not be for sale.

"The Eagles have gotten calls on DT Moro Ojomo, a rising star in a contract year. And that makes sense, given that the team has already paid Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis at his position. Still, the team has told others that Ojomo is not available, and has at least given off the vibe that it’ll try to re-sign him, despite having Carter and Davis already on big deals. That said, other contract-year players like Hollywood Brown, Tariq Woolen and Dallas Goedert could be had. A Saquon Barkley trade seems less likely, especially with Barkley banged up."

Ojomo has served up 18 tackles, 16 pressures, 13 hurries, three quarterback hits, and two tackles for loss in seven games. Pro Football Focus gave him a 53.9 overall grade, ranking him 83rd out of 126 interior defensive linemen. He also has a pass-rush grade of 53.9 (ranked 110th) and a run-defense grade of 54.5 (ranked 61st).

Surprising twist to Moro Ojomo news could be good thing for Eagles

One thing everyone knows about Roseman: everyone values offensive and defensive linemen. He knows better than anyone that winning the battle up front makes life much easier for up-front teams.

Should it surprise you that Ojomo may not be a player the Eagles will trade for? Maybe, but at the same time, it would match what Roseman has practiced over the last decade-plus.

The surprise would be that Roseman did not bring back key defensive linemen over the last two years, such as Milton Williams, Josh Sweat, and Jaelan Phillips. Roseman may have learned a tough lesson, since all three have played incredibly well since leaving the Eagles.

Ojomo is a reliable starter on the team and a homegrown talent for the Eagles after they picked him up in the seventh round. He has gone toe-to-toe with what Davis and Carter do on the line, with some arguing that Ojomo is a better pass rusher than Davis and a better run stopper than Carter—a perfect in-between for the Eagles' defensive line.

One question for Roseman is whether he is willing to pay a heavy price for Ojomo. The projected price tag could be between $20 million and $25 million per year. With other major needs on the team like safety, cornerback, and offensive line, this could keep Philly from doing that.

This might end up being a "let's wait and see" situation. Many Eagles fans may not buy the report, but Roseman loves his linemen so that Ojomo could spend more time in Philadelphia beyond the 2026 season.
