The Philadelphia Eagles' offseason has already been filled with fireworks and drama, but it could always be worse.

Well, Sports Illustrated's Conor Orr's latest Eagles bold prediction for the offseason would certainly give Philly their peak in drama. Orr has the Eagles doing the unthinkable in the 2026 NFL Draft.

"The Eagles will draft a quarterback in the second round.

… and bring on all the speculation that entails. Welcome to Philadelphia, Sean Mannion!"

New bold prediction has Eagles selecting QB in NFL Draft in the second round

Look, selecting a quarterback in the NFL Draft wouldn't be a crazy idea with Jalen Hurts still starting, as they found success with Tanner McKee as a backup, but that's all he is. Picking a quarterback in the second round would bring the same kind of chaos as Philly had back in 2020 when the same situation happened.

Hurts was selected by the Eagles in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, as he originally was the backup to Carson Wentz until he wasn't. Ever since Hurts replaced Wentz late in the 2020 season, it has worked out well for the Eagles, as Hurts has been a Pro Bowler three times, taking the team to the Super Bowl twice, and winning one.

What Orr is presenting might be worse than what the Eagles fan base went through in 2020. Hurts already has some questions around him being the starter, and a rookie being drafted as high as the second round may not cause a quarterback controversy right away, but one would eventually happen in the next year or two.

The telling sign will be how the Eagles handle trade rumors about McKee as if he is traded, which might further push the narrative that a quarterback was selected in the second round. If the Eagles keep McKee, that might give Hurts some more breathing room.

A quarterback selection in the second round would be insane to see in Philly, but something that isn't out of the realm of possibility.
