If Philadelphia Eagles fans wanted to see how the Dallas Cowboys got into their heads to make the first-round 2026 NFL Draft trade, the footage is out.
ESPN released its documentary "The Pick Is In," which shows the behind-the-scenes of the draft from the television side and from a select number of teams. The Dallas Cowboys were one of the teams featured in the program, and yes, it showed how the first-round trade with the Eagles went down.
Cowboys co-owner and executive Stephen Jones was seen in a clip predicting that Eagles general manager Howie Roseman would call him about trading up from pick 23 to pick 20. Sure enough, Roseman did with Jones calling back, and the two sides struck a deal with the Eagles receiving the Cowboys' 20th overall pick and a 2027 seventh-round pick in exchange for the 23rd overall pick and two 2026 fourth-round picks. Philly ended up selecting USC wide receiver Makai Lemon with the pick, which the clip showed Lemon on the phone with the Pittsburgh Steelers before hanging up on them to talk to the Eagles to make the pick official.
Eagles fans got to see how Cowboys draft day trade went down
Philly has received praise for the trade and selection of Lemon, as they will help the franchise's future. The Eagles now have their receiver of the future, who can replace A.J. Brown, who is linked to trade rumors, with a potential move happening after June 1.
It's even better to see how Jones and the Cowboys knew they were about to be fleeced even before it happened. Everyone knows by now how Roseman operates, and he pounced at the opportunity to improve his roster with a clever trade.
Dallas wanted those two fourth-round picks from the Eagles, thinking they would actually help them. Roseman understands that Day 3 picks are not as valuable as they used to be, as more players are staying in college for NIL and will get more money in college than in the pros. The talent level is starting to dip in the later rounds, so Roseman doesn't mind moving those picks.

Eagles fans certainly enjoyed watching the Cowboys completely blow another trade in real time, and it's even better now that they know it was coming. Roseman certainly worked his draft day magic to perfection.
