New kicking stat just gave Eagles easy evidence to hand Jake Elliott a pink slip

Philadelphia Eagles kicker Jake Elliott easily had one of the worst seasons, if not the worst season, of his career, but how does he compare to other NFL kickers?

Well, a new kicking metric might better help with that question, as FanSided's Adam Fromal introduced "Kick Value Added (KVA)". Before going into where Elliott ranked among NFL kickers in KVA, Fromal explained what this new kicking stat means and how it is measured.

"Instead of treating all makes and misses equally, KVA measures how much value a kicker actually adds (or costs) relative to league expectations from the same distances across the field. A long-distance conversion shouldn’t be weighed the same as a chip shot, and a miss doesn’t carry the same meaning everywhere on the field. As we saw during a 2025 season that featured incredible long-range success, making a 55-yarder this year shouldn't be treated the same as a kicker drilling a 55-yarder in 1985. KVA captures that difference."

Jake Elliott's ranking in KVA in 2025

Now, to get to the brutal reality, at this point, after watching Elliott's horrendous 2025 campaign, Eagles fans can pretty much guess this isn't going to go well for him. 43 NFL kickers were included in the ranking, but only five kickers ranked worse than Elliot. Yep, Elliott was ranked 38th with a -5.3798 KVA.

"The Philadelphia Eagles didn’t part with Jake Elliott, but the 31-year-old has now posted back-to-back campaigns in the red," Fromal said in his article.

Elliott went 20 of 27 for the season, making only 74.1% of his field goals in 2025, the second lowest field goal percentage and second most missed field goals in a year in his career. This included a stretch late in the season where he missed field goals in four of five games.

Fromal shared that Elliott had two straight seasons in the red, which is because he posted a KVA of -3.0719 in 2024 after missing eight field goals. That was right after a 2023 season in which he posted his highest KVA of his NFL career at 11.4946.

The evidence is there that Elliott's production has dropped off over the last two years. It's time for the Eagles to accept that he either needs to be released or the team needs to find competition that will push him to be better.

Philly cannot allow him to have a third straight season of these kinds of bad numbers. It's bad for the team that is entering a critical 2026 season.
