With less than 24 hours until a trade involving the Philadelphia Eagles and wide receiver A.J. Brown happens with the New England Patriots, there are all kinds of different reports coming out.

Some reporters believe the deal could be delayed because the Patriots are hesitant to move away from a first-round pick, but others believe the framework is in place and they just need to officially agree to it. NFL insider Jason La Canfora shared a new report on the potential trade, including what a league general manager said about the deal.

"I hear it's New England for a 2028 first-round pick. He's a good football player, but that's a helluva deal for (Eagles GM) Howie (Roseman)."

Eagles look to be getting the first-round pick they want

While a 2027 first-round pick would be preferred, the fact that it sounds like the Eagles are going to get one in the first place would be a massive win for them. Roseman has made it clear that he wants a first-round pick for a three-time Pro Bowler, or he wouldn't even bother to make the deal.

Everyone brings it back to the Miami Dolphins trading wide receiver Jaylen Waddle to the Denver Broncos and getting a first-round pick out of the process. Waddle and Brown are close in age, with Brown having the better resume than Waddle, so it only makes sense for the Eagles to get the first-round selection they deserve.

Even if the Patriots want to fight the Eagles on the deal, they are going to have to do it anyway. Without a true number one receiver on the team, between only signing Romeo Doubs and not drafting a pass catcher, New England has no choice but to cough up the asking price to get Brown.

Philly would come out of this trade as the big winners since they are basically getting back what they gave up in the trade involving Brown back in 2022 with the Tennessee Titans. Plus, they are going to save $7 million against the cap, which can help them sign a free agent or make a trade.

The Eagles are going to force the Patriots' hand if they really want Brown, so for the moment, they are looking great in the deal. Roseman appears to be working his magic once again in Philly.
