There is drama in football outside of the Philadelphia Eagles, but it turns out that it could be heading directly to Philly.
Texas Tech quarterback Brendan Sorsby has been facing a ton of heat at the college level after being found to have bet on multiple college football games he was involved in. Sorsby has since gone to rehab to get treatment for his gambling addiction, but it started a war when a local judge ruled that Sorsby can serve a two-game suspension and play the 2026 season for the Red Raiders.
Well, now it appears that the Big 12 took action to ensure that Sorsby doesn't play, which resulted in the late-night news that he had entered himself in the NFL Supplemental Draft. Before the latest news happened, NFL insider Jason La Canfora shared what a general manager in the league told him.
"One GM told me if college QB Brendan Sorsby would have entered the supplemental draft he thinks the Eagles would have taken him in the second round. Jalen Hurts has no guaranteed money beyond this season, and the Eagles are always looking to upgrade. Even a past Super Bowl MVP might not be enough unless Hurts steps up his game."
Could Brendan Sorsby really be on his way to playing for the Eagles?
Is there a possibility that Sorsby plays for the Eagles in 2026? Sure, no one can count it out. Eagles general manager Howie Roseman has repeatedly said he wants his team to be a QB factory, so the possibility is real.
The amount of drama that would be created for the Eagles would be a media firestorm. Jalen Hurts is already under a ton of heat from reports that he was uncoachable and changing plays. The newest Hurts report is that he's not happy with the organization for a lack of support.
Bringing in Sorsby would only make things worse, as it would ensure the Eagles seriously consider a quarterback change after the 2026 season. Sorsby was a projected first-round pick in next year's NFL Draft, so this is a guy that will be sought out by multiple teams.

The last thing the Eagles need is unnecessary drama from a quarterback who could compete with Hurts but also has off-the-field issues. Philly might be better off sitting this one out, but Roseman is known for taking chances on players with character questions. This has now become a very real scenario that could unfold.
