The Philadelphia Eagles have spent the last two months hearing calls from other NFL general managers about trade offers for wide receiver A.J. Brown, but nothing has gotten done yet.
Many believe it's because Eagles general manager Howie Roseman is looking for a first- and second-round pick in exchange for Brown, which is too high a cost in their minds. ProFootballTalk's Mike Florio offered an alternative reason, noting that the Los Angeles Rams might have been too concerned about Brown's knee to make a move.
"They got scared off by the preliminary medical research. It was too much of an investment for a player at his age."
A.J. Brown now has knee concerns?
This is a completely new injury that popped out of nowhere and seems very odd. Brown missed some time last year due to a hamstring injury, but not a knee injury. He did have to deal with a knee injury back in the 2023 season, with no other reports of any issues after that.
It almost feels as though the Rams were looking for an excuse to back out of the Brown trade talks, as no one else has talked about this. He's only missed six games in four seasons with the Eagles, and two of those were being benched in the final game of the year to rest for the postseason.
Every day feels like there is some new report about Brown and what is going on with the trade, when in reality, nothing is going to happen in the next two months unless the Eagles get a great deal. All eyes are on June 1 for a possible trade involving Brown, when the Eagles' dead cap hit from Brown will be 50% of its current amount, saving $7 million in cap space.
