There are a lot of anxious Philadelphia Eagles fans as they wait to hear the news on what's going to happen with the offensive coordinator opening.
While there have been many interviews for the job, including bringing in former New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll, it appears this opening might not be the most attractive on the market. The Athletic's NFL insider Dianna Russini appeared on SportsRadio 94 WIP in Philadelphia as she was asked about whether the Eagles' offensive coordinator job is an attractive one for coaches.
“No, I don't," Russini said on SportsRadio 94 WIP. "I think coordinators on this list are aware that navigating Philly is difficult, and it’s not the easiest place to step into—especially if you’re looking for a successful few years.”
Dianna Russini told Eagles fans the truth they may not be ready to hear
Let's face it, she's not 100% completely wrong, even if Eagles fans are still bitter about the way she covered the A.J. Brown trade rumors during the season. This offensive coordinator job may not be the dream opening Eagles fans think it is.
Look at what happened with Mike McDaniel. Everyone thought McDaniel would be perfect for what the Eagles needed in their offense, but he didn't even take an interview with Philly and is instead planning to join the Los Angeles Chargers as their offensive coordinator.
The Eagles' offensive coordinator job has been a revolving door since Nick Sirianni became head coach, as they search for their fifth one in six years. Sure, Shane Steichen and Kellen Moore worked out well, but they left quickly after getting head coaching jobs (not that anyone can blame them).
But there have been too many mishaps with the offensive coordinator job as well. Brian Johnson and Kevin Patullo were one-and-done after disastrous runs in the position.
There's also the drama that comes with being with the Eagles. From A.J. Brown's antics to reports on teammates frustrated with Jalen Hurts, as well as his reported refusal to run QB-designed runs. Even with the Brown drama, he might get traded in the offseason, which means they lose a key weapon on offense that saw massive regression in the skill players and the offensive line.

Can this offense be great to run? Absolutely, but let's not assume this is the best job on the market and might have to come to reality that if Daboll doesn't work out, the Eagles might have to settle for a candidate who might not be able to do as good a job as Patullo did in 2025.
