There are a lot of relieved people in Philadelphia after the news of Kevin Patullo being removed as offensive coordinator for the Eagles.

Questions still arise about whether Patullo would return to the coaching staff in a different role in 2026 or coach elsewhere. The Eagles have bigger fish to fry, as now they need to hit a home run with the next offensive coordinator hire.

One source told NFL insider Josina Anderson that two coaches will get serious consideration for the Eagles' offensive coordinator job. Those two candidates include former Washington Commanders offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury and former Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski.

Eagles going bold with two initial candidates for OC job

Kingsbury makes a ton of sense as he has had a lot of success at the NFL level over the last six years he has coached in the league. He was the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals for four years and spent the last two years as offensive coordinator for the Commanders.

During his time in Arizona, Kingsbury went 28-37-1 and took the Cardinals to the playoff in 2021 with an 11-6 record. Twice in four years with the Cardinals was his offense ranked in the top 10 in total yards.

While with the Commanders, he also had a top 10 offense in 2024, helping lead Washington to the NFC Championship game before losing to the eventual Super Bowl champs Eagles. Injuries in 2025 caused the offense in Washington to fall to 22nd.

The experience Kingsbury had in developing Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray and Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels might be a major advantage for Eagles signal caller Jalen Hurts who could use some development himself. One issue with Kingsbury, though, is his college style offense and whether it would be good for Hurts or not.

Stefanski was NFL Coach of the Year twice in Cleveland, taking the Browns to the postseason twice. He went 45-56 as the head coach in his six seasons with the team.

He was the offensive coordiantor for the Minnesota Vikings in 2019 as that offense was 16th in yards and eighth in scoring before coming to Cleveland. The Browns' offense never finished in the top 10 in total offense.

The issue with Stefanski is that he has given up his play calling duties on offense twice in the last two years. That would be a concern for Eagles fans, but he certainly knows how to make an offense out of nothing like he had in Cleveland.

These are two good candidates to start with, but the Eagles will have a lot more work to do to find Patullo's replacement.
