The Philadelphia Eagles' offensive coordinator search really hit a new low with multiple candidates dropping out of the running.

One of those candidates the Eagles lost out on was Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Declan Doyle, who pulled his name out of the running. Opinions started swirling around why Doyle would turn down the opportunity to call the plays on offense for the Eagles.

ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler shared more insights into the interview, stating that Doyle's interview with the Eagles was "very impressive." Fowler added that Doyle is on pace to be a head coach in the next coaching cycle and stated that he wouldn't be surprised if "Eagles prioritize playcalling experience at this stage."

Declan Doyle dropping out of Eagles OC search good or bad thing?

Eagles fans can take this report in two different ways. They can either see it as a good thing because he could be a one-and-done coach or a bad thing because they missed out on a brilliant mind.

The last thing this team needs is a coach who is going to bolt after one season again, just to throw off Jalen Hurts' development once again. They need someone who will stay a while and build some continuity within the offense, something that hasn't really been around since Nick Sirianni became the head coach.

Philly wanting a play caller is exactly what the Eagles need. That's why the offense failed under Kevin Patullo last season, as he was not experienced as a play caller and could never get into a rhythm.

What is going to be tough on Eagles fans is that it sounds like Doyle might be like a Kellen Moore, with how smart he is. Even without the play-calling experience, it might have been worth giving him a chance to work with the offense and fix all the problems they have with it.

Eagles fans want to finally land a guy who can make a difference for this team on offense, but that process has been as bumpy as it could be. With Doyle out of the picture, the pressure is really on to find the guy to give the offense exactly what they need in Philly.
