NFL Insider's update will thrill Eagles fans supporting Myles Garrett addition

People won't stop talking about it. Howie Roseman can't talk about it, so here we are, fanning the flames of an always churning rumor mill. The dots representing the Philadelphia Eagles and Myles Garrett keep connecting, though no one who can actually draw said line is making that happen.

There's a reason for that. Myles Garrett is still under contract with the Cleveland Browns, so, by NFL rule, Howie couldn't discuss him or talk about an acquisition if he wanted to.

The plot thickened when the Browns stated they had no intention of trading Garrett. GM Andrew Berry reiterated that during his press conference at the NFL Combine, but then Mary Kay Cabot, provided an update. Myles has no intention in furthering his stay in Cleveland.

Those in the know are well aware that nothing Cabot says about the Cleveland Browns needs to be challenged or questioned. She's a walking thesaurus about this team. That led us to a theory. The Browns are totally trading Myles Garrett. These are just matters of when, to whom, and asking price.

Few are as good at what they do as Dianna Russini. She's the senior NFL insider at The Athletic. She stirred the pot even further while discussing this topic with another of her platform's finest, fellow NFL insider and co-host of The Facility, FS1's own Chase Daniel.

Everyone knows Josh Sweat and Milton Williams are headed toward huge paydays during this coming free-agency frenzy. Most believe one or both paydays will come from an organization other than Philadelphia as the Eagles prioritize Zach Baun's extension.

If what Russini is being told proves to be correct, the path toward a Garrett acquisition becomes more likely. It will be expensive to land him. Again, he is still under contract with the Browns, and they'll look to cash in while negotiating with teams looking to acquire his services.

The NFL recently announced a record-setting league-wide salary cap. That should give the Birds somewhere around $20 million in cap space. Then, the real work begins, negotiations.

Early theories suggest Cleveland will seek at minimum two first-round draft choices as part of a trade package. Garrett will, more than likely, seek an extension as well. He has expressed interest in joining Philly's nest, but a ton of work must be done to get things going, work that hasn't even started yet.
